An affordable solution for most of our clients seeking advice on Council Tax.

A significant majority of individuals who approach Council Tax Advisors are grappling with outstanding arrears that have been handed over to a Bailiff Enforcement Agent for collection. Many clients express concerns that the repayment demands set by these agents are unreasonable and unmanageable.

To tackle this problem, one of our agents provides a service to mediate on your behalf and negotiate a repayment plan that is both affordable and sustainable. This can be accomplished through direct discussions with the Enforcement Agent or by working with your Local Authority. Our main goal is to establish repayment plans that enable you to clear your debt promptly while staying within your financial means.

The entire process is designed to be clear and straightforward.

To receive help, you can apply, and our agents will promptly contact you. They will then conduct a Financial Health Check with you to ensure the solutions proposed are tailored to your specific circumstances.

The final decision on which solution to adopt rests entirely with you, allowing you complete control over choosing the path that best meets your needs and preferences.

After agreeing on the most suitable solution for your situation, typically an ‘Affordable Repayment Plan’ (ARP) in about 90% of the cases we handle, we will provide you with the necessary documentation. This paperwork must be completed and returned to us, giving us the legal authority to represent you.

Once your case is assigned to our dedicated case handling team, they will initiate dialogue with your Local Council and their appointed Bailiff Enforcement agent. The aim is to discuss your situation and agree on a repayment plan that satisfies all parties.

Once a resolution has been reached, we will contact you to update you on the progress. Additionally, throughout the process, you will receive regular updates via email and text messages to keep you fully informed.

Local Council / Bailiff Enforcement Agent Payment Arrangements

Once a repayment plan has been established, you will receive instructions on how to make payments directly to either your Council or the Bailiff Enforcement Agency. If we have negotiated an affordable repayment plan with the Enforcement Agency, as long as you keep up with your payments, you will not receive any further visits from the Enforcement Agent.

Should you foresee any difficulties in making a payment during the duration of the repayment plan, it is essential that you contact us promptly. It is important to explain why you are unable to make the payment, as this allows us to renegotiate with your Council or the Bailiff Enforcement Agency before any breach of agreement occurs. This proactive approach enables us to manage the situation and explore suitable alternatives.

Our repayment plans are effective!

We take great pride in our ability to devise repayment plans that effectively meet our clients’ needs. Our success is evident, with over 70% of the repayment plans we facilitate enabling clients to settle their debts affordably. The remaining 30% of cases typically involve clients who either choose not to continue seeking our assistance or are unwilling to meet their financial commitments.

No matter the reasons for your Council Tax arrears, our main goal is to help you set up repayment plans that ease your financial stress. By representing you, we aim to provide the necessary support to help you move forward without the worry of unexpected visits from Bailiff Enforcement Agents. Our objective is to help you regain stability and peace of mind.

What to Do If the Repayment Plan Is Unaffordable?

In some situations, particularly when dealing with significant debt issues that include more than just Council Tax arrears, a repayment plan with your local authority or their appointed bailiffs might not be sufficient to resolve the issue fully. If Council Tax arrears are part of a broader financial challenge, there’s no need to worry.

We have formed partnerships with debt solution experts who are skilled in offering comprehensive advice. They can guide you through holistic debt solutions, such as Debt Relief Orders (DROs), Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs), and, in more extreme cases, Bankruptcy. By submitting our application, we can evaluate your circumstances and recommend the best course of action for you.
